Exploring Meituan's Drone Delivery Operations in Hong Kong

UMEP Lab member Pei Sun represented the lab during a visit to Meituan’s drone delivery operations in Hong Kong on July 21, 2026.

The visit focused on how autonomous aerial delivery is deployed in real-world urban settings. Participants learned about Meituan’s drone delivery service, observed the end-to-end process from meal dispatch to order collection, and experienced the service at a designated delivery point near Tai Po Waterfront Park. The delegation later toured Meituan’s drone operations center at Hong Kong Science Park, gaining further insight into flight coordination, service workflows, and the practical implementation of urban drone logistics.
